A mother's wicked plan
Episode 9 A mother's wicked plan A Mother’s Wicked Move When Nneka told Papa Ebere about the scholarship, he was overjoyed. "This is a blessing, my daughter! You will go to that school and make us proud." But Mama Ebere was furious. "She is not going anywhere!" she shouted. Papa Ebere frowned. "Why are you like this? Shouldn’t you be happy for your child?" Mama Ebere folded her arms. "I don’t care! If anyone should go to a big school, it should be Ada, not this useless girl!" That night, while Nneka was sleeping, Mama Ebere entered her room quietly and took her books. She carried them outside and threw them into the fire. The next morning, Nneka woke up and couldn’t find her books. "Mama, where are my books?" she asked, panicking. Mama Ebere smirked. "Maybe the rats ate them." Nneka’s heart broke. The scholarship exam was in a few days, and now she had nothing to study with. Papa Ebere was away on a business trip, so he didn’t know what had happened. Nneka wanted to cry, but then she remembered something—the school library! Instead of giving up, she rushed to school early and borrowed books. She stayed late after classes, reading and preparing. The day of the exam finally came. Nneka sat down, took a deep breath, and told herself, I will not let Mama win. She picked up her pen and started writing.
